Designing with Dormancy

A brief guide to winter perennial landscapes

This humble booklet explores the physiology, ecology, and aesthetic aspects of plant dormancy during winter. It focuses primarily on herbaceous perennial species native to New York state, and offers a framework for thinking through garden and urban landscape design across the colder seasons. It is the product of a small research grant funded by SCAPE Landscape Architecture, based in New York City.
