Introduction ~ by DeborahChapinThis book was created with the idea of demonstrating the interaction of plein air painting within an individual’s portfolio. I myself have had an evolution within my work in which plein air painting played a part and so I was curious to know about other artists’ stories. I noticed that many have stated that plein air painting (painting on location) has helped them tremendously in breathing life and air into their studio works. One of the problems I think with doing just one thing in the arts for 20 or 30 years is that the artist tends to lose the inspiration and enthusiasm for a particular subject. The work just becomes lifeless or contrived.
